I Actually Spoke to Someone!

You probably remember The Little Engine That Could. A train full of toys breaks down at the foot of a mountain. Engine after engine steams past, far too busy to help. Then a small engine stops, hitches up and puffs to the top, muttering, “I think I can, I think I can.”

Now swap the toys for vans and the mountain for choosing vehicle tracking. You could spend a million hours researching it. Forty-seven browser tabs later, the train is still at the bottom of the hill.

At Pay as you Track, we do things differently. We think the best vehicle tracking advice starts with a conversation, and a conversation starts with somebody answering the phone.

The Engines That Didn’t Stop

The shiny engine was far too grand to pull toys. The big engine had more important things to do. The rusty old engine just sighed, “I cannot, I cannot.” Sound familiar?

  • The shiny engine: The sales pitch that knows what you need before you’ve finished your sentence.
  • The big engine: The reference number, the hold music and the assurance that your call is important.
  • The rusty engine: The million hours of research, which eventually concludes that choosing the right GPS hardware is difficult. Even our own website admits that.
A storybook-style scene of a small, determined steam engine pulling a line of white vans up a steep green hill towards a summit marked with a map pin, while an old telephone handset lies in the grass beside the track.

I Think I Can… Work Out What You Need

The little engine didn’t try to sell the toys a bigger train. It asked where they were going. So do we. Tell us about your vehicles and what you want to achieve, and we’ll tell you straight. No messing around.

  • Light vans and cars: A self-fit plug-in tracker may be all you need. It can be fitted and removed without an engineer.
  • Something more permanent: Hardwired trackers take power directly from the vehicle, and they’re hidden and difficult to tamper with.
  • Only what’s useful: Choose the software features package that fits, and only pay for what you need.

If the simplest option does the job, we’ll say so. It’s not the most cunning sales strategy, but we sleep well. Not sure which device is right for you? That’s where we come in.

I Think I Can… Get to Know You

Nobody in the story was handed a ticket number. Relationships are how we do business, and you can’t build one with a drop-down menu.

  • A small, focused team: Our support is in-house and here in the UK.
  • Experts from the start: People with decades of experience in the industry, who built our own bespoke software. Meet the people behind Pay as you Track.

I Think I Can… Stay With You All the Way

Pulling a train uphill takes more than good intentions. It takes puffing. We’ll admit to being rather passionate about vehicle tracking, possibly more than is strictly normal, and we don’t uncouple halfway up.

  • Getting started: Every new customer gets onboarding training as standard.
  • Fitted properly: We fit most of our clients’ trackers, and our engineers always use our own Pay as you Track Engineer app.
  • No lock-in: No tie-in, and you only pay for the days you use.

The story ends with the little engine rolling down the other side, puffing, “I thought I could, I thought I could.” Yours ends with you telling colleagues the thing they never quite believe: “I actually spoke to someone!”

So why spend a million hours researching when one phone call could get your fleet over the mountain?

We think we can help. Actually, we’re fairly sure.
